Topic: Energy efficiency of buildings in the context of European and national legislation (EPBD, NBRP) and its economic benefits for the Czech Republic
Brief description: This panel discussion will focus on energy efficiency in buildings as a key tool not only for reducing emissions, but also for strengthening the resilience, competitiveness, and energy independence of the Czech economy. The discussion will cover recent developments in European legislation, particularly the revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and national building renovation plans (NBRP), and their practical implications in the Czech Republic, including the “Nová zelená úsporám” programme.
Special attention will be given to the economic case for building renovation and to financing the upgrade of the building stock towards higher energy performance standards. The discussion will explore how to effectively mobilize public and private resources, design support mechanisms, and remove investment barriers. It will also address the reduction of energy costs for households and businesses, the stimulation of investments and jobs in the construction sector, the increase in property values, and the strengthening of macroeconomic stability through reduced dependence on energy imports.
